The Rooted Wisdom’s ’s Life Skills program gravitates away from traditional scholarship support and instead focuses on an incentive based system that allows students to “earn” an enterprise livestock project and educational stipend through participation, attendance, and engagement.
Students who complete this program receive the necessary tools to begin a personal savings plan, demonstrate increased business knowledge, and learn a vocational skill to earn income for an immediate need such as bedding or school books or a future educational goal including attending vocational college.

Since launching the Life Skills program in 2016 at St. James Secondary School, student enrollment has increased by 155%! In 2022, 93% of our students returned to school two years after two years of school closures caused by Covid-19.
