The Rooted Wisdom’s Life Skills program gravitates away from traditional scholarship support. Instead, it focuses on an incentive-based system that allows students to “earn” an enterprise livestock project and educational stipend through participation, attendance, and engagement.
Students who complete this program receive the necessary tools to begin a personal savings plan, demonstrate increased business knowledge, and learn a vocational skill to begin earning income for immediate needs or future educational goals.. pass on a livestock project to a future student, and self-fund at least 50% of their education within one-and-a-half years of the project’s implementation.
Since launching the Life Skills program in 2016 at St. James Secondary School, student enrollment has increased by 155%! In 2022, 93% of our students returned to school two years after two years of school closures caused by Covid-19.
